About
Our Davis Elementary Tigers follow our Tiger Tenets: be safe, be respectful, be responsible.
Originally founded in the 1870s, the first Davis School was located across Highway 99. A one and a half room schoolhouse, the original school was attended by only twenty students from grades one through eight. As the old Davis School became overcrowded, a new four-room schoolhouse was constructed at the same site. The current Davis Elementary School was constructed in 1958 to accommodate the growing Morada area.
Davis School is located in the heart of the rural Morada community with an attendance area that encompasses homes up to 2 miles away. This allows for a richly diverse student population and offers many opportunities to celebrate and appreciate differences. In addition to English speaking students, we also have students from Cambodian, Vietnamese, Hmong, Spanish and other language backgrounds who are mastering English.
Teachers in Grades Kindergarten - 3rd implement SIPPS instruction to support literacy development and Davis Elementary School is currently working on embedding AVID strategies in our instruction. The commitment to quality and excellence in education continues to be the guiding focus for the school community. A student-centered, caring atmosphere makes Davis Elementary School a very positive environment for all students.
Davis Tigers follow the Tiger Tenets daily and are expected to Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Reponsible. The mission of our school is to provide an opportunity for every student to reach a high level of academic achievement as determined by state and district standards. It is our purpose to help each student reach their full potential. In partnership with our families, we will foster positive growth in social/emotional behaviors and attitudes.
The entire staff pledges itself to work toward these student outcomes in a respectful atmosphere conducive to quality learning and achievement.
